First Week in Bloomington

Hello everyone!
This week was pretty great! Elder Westenskow is a great companion, he has a real desire to work and to be obedient, which is great! The area is a lot different than I'm used to. It's a fairly wealthy area with a lot of Caucasian and Indian people, in fact my area is nicknamed Little India. They are always very nice and open when we first contact them but generally they disappear when you try to contact them again, it's very different. Right now we're trying to get new investigators since we only have one solid investigator and one couple to work with. All of my other areas have had 40+ potentials and for once I'm going to be doing lots of tracting and street contacting. Right now we are being advised to not tract since it is very ineffective but we really don't know what else to do in this area, so until we can figure that out we're going to have no choice but to do a lot of generic personal finding. We are really trying to start working with the members more though so hopefully member work starts picking up more. I am excited to start doing a lot of personal finding though since I haven't had to do a lot of that before.
We had an awesome experience on Wednesday during a dinner we had.
After our lesson we asked if there was anything we could do for her and she didn't have any service for us to do but she walked us over to one of her neighbors houses and introduced us. This woman was more than happy to have us help her and she even offered to feed us! The miracles happen when we open our mouth, this member said she was hesitant to say anything but because she knows how important the gospel is she decided to just go for it. And look at the miracles that followed! I definitely have a testimony of the importance of members now, I feel really bad for not giving any referrals because I could have made the missionaries job so much easier and I could have tried to help those I care about.
That's pretty much it for this week!
Make it a great week everyone!

Transfers

Hey Everyone!

This last week was pretty great. We got rebuked pretty hardcore by Elder Martino on Wednesday when we had a Mission Tour. The tour was super awesome I definitely learned a lot from Elder Martino and from his wife. He basically told us that we've been doing it all wrong and that there is a better way. We already knew this stuff but the hard part was trying to figure out how to do it. What he told us was that we need to work with members, no exceptions. That was the part we knew, but he actually gave us some really good ideas on how to do that and we've already started to implement those things and we've had more lessons in members homes these past few days than I've had almost the whole transfer. It works wonderfully! I can't wait to implement it in my new area.
New area? Yep, that's right. Guess who's getting transferred...this guy. I am being moved (on Tuesday) to the Bloomington 2nd Ward with Elder Westenskow as my new companion. This will be his first transfer not being trained so he's pretty new, I'm excited to be with a newer missionary because they have a fire that gets lost the longer out you've been. I'm hoping he can help me rekindle that fire. I've heard that my area is in a richer part of town, which is the opposite of where I've been in my last two areas, so this should be a new experience for me. I'm really excited to see what the Lord has in store for me in Bloomington and I can't wait to serve the people there and work hard!
I've definitely seen a lot of blessings this week as I've been trying to work on some Christlike attributes. I exhort everyone to go to chapter 6 in Preach My Gospel and pick an attribute to work on as I know that while we try to become more like Christ it will help us draw closer to him and help prepare us to enter into the kingdom of God.
I love you all and hope and pray that you all make this week good!

He is sending his love and hopes that you are enjoying Conference.

This was his dessert after eating baked potatoes, hot dogs, and salad.

Does your wonderful missionary have a problem with salads?
Dinner at our house now.

This is him with four different types of hot sauce. He mixed them all together.
