Memorial Day

Hello everyone!
This week was pretty good. To start off the first exciting thing that happened is that we had a lesson with less active family that was set up by their home teachers and they asked us to come with them for the lesson. We taught  in unity with the member and they really understood the importance of relying on Jesus Christ to get through hardships and trials. Earlier in the day we just stopped by some people and knocked on some houses and talk to some people that knew who we were but weren't interested but at least they were nice. The next day we stopped by some people and went over to do service for the Theobald we were there for probably longer than we should've been and we tried to have a lesson but they were Ina rush for some reason and were just kind of like bye see you later. We also had dinner with a family and talked to them about some of their friends and what they would like to do to help them progress in the Gospel, it was pretty good.  The next day we stopped by people again and we stop by a former who told us to follow up with her this week and she read the Book of Mormon and said that she felt good while she read it and so we invited her to to pray to know if it is true and she said she would, she still isn't super open to having us come over but she said we can follow up with her so we're going to plan on doing that this week and seeing how it went but she felt the spirit and she recognizes that it was good so it's a really good sign and we're excited to see how things turn out with her. The rest of the week was not too exciting just a bunch if stopping by people and had a couple dinners that were pretty good. We had a meeting to prepare a bit for our fifth Sunday lesson, that went really well btw. We just talked about the importance of the members and tried to help them feel the spirit of missionary work. We had a really good lesson with the the Fikes. We showed up and they asked some good questions and then we taught them about the great apostasy and the need for the Book of Mormon. We told them that we claim to be the true church and if that is true then it's a big deal and they agreed. They both agreed to read the Book of Mormon again and to pray this time. They've starting progress nicely.

That's pretty much it for this week!
Love you all

Zone Conference in Peoria

Hey Everyone!
This week was pretty good. We did a lot of stop by's, both former investigators and members. Pretty much no one was ever home, including the members, and if they were home the husband was always gone. So we're trying something new where we do this even try to get into their house, we just say that we are focusing on the plan of salvation and ask them if they know anyone who has had a death in the family, a baby, and stuff like that. We then try to work the name we get into a referral. It's worked so far, so that's good! We had a couple lessons with the Theobalds that went fairly well. they wouldn't commit to come to church but we're slowly but surely figuring out how to help them. The next day we dropped off one of the new Families and Temples pamphlets and asked her to read the page about the Temple Sealing and to do the additional study in the back, we hope that that is what they need. We also had Zone Conference on Wednesday and that was pretty good. We gained some new insight on working with members. It was in Peoria which is probably the place that looks the most like home that I've been to. There were just lots of hills and trees that made them look bigger, almost like mountains. We tried the new stuff we learned at Zone Conferences at some dinners we had and they worked really well! That's really everything exciting that happened this week. Not super eventful but some miracles definitely happened. Oh, yeah! Greg wants to take a break from learning right now but he says he's still interested in learning. So, we'll see what happens. In my studies I've been trying to connect scriptures from the Book of Mormon and the Bible so that they can become one in my hands. Pretty exciting stuff. That's pretty much it for this week! Make this week great and do those things that will bring God the most joy.

Love you all!

Have a Great Week Everyone!

Hey everyone!

This week was fantastic for a few reasons. One we went on exchanges on Saturday and Elder Shields and I were able to give out some Book of Mormons and commit people to read them. I'm not sure how solid they are but they're at least willing to have us come back and follow up with them, so that's a plus. Also, Elder Westenskow and I found two new investigators yesterday. We were stopping by some formers and we stopped by a man named Jack, whom we have stopped by multiple times in the past but he has never been home. This time, he was home and he let us right in to talk with him and his wife. He told us that he had been studying the Book of Revelations and had a few questions about the Second Coming of Christ and some other random questions that we were able to answer. Elder Westenskow did a great job teaching parts of the Restoration and he explained things clearly and made it easy for these people to understand. He also asked a question about why we think God lets children suffer and die. We were able to then teach parts of the Plan of Salvation and they seemed to understand and like everything we said. We committed them to read 3 Nephi 11 but he said we couldn't come back for a couple weeks but we got him to agree to us coming over sooner just to "check in" on them. We're pretty excited about them and can't wait to see how things progress. We also had to drop Ernestine this week. We stopped by on Tuesday to see how her reading was going and she basically told us that she didn't really want to read the Book of Mormon because she has a problem with it. We bore testimony and tried to help her understand as best as we could, but to no avail. She sort of told us that she didn't need us to come over anymore but she didn't flat out so it so we still showed up on Thursday for the lesson we had set, we had a member and everything (hoping him being there would help her let us in) but, she was not very happy to see us and told us that we shouldn't come by anymore. It's really too bad for her, she had the truth right in front of her but threw it to the ground. Luckily she still has that copy of the Book of Mormon in her house so hopefully, sooner than later, she can figure things out.
Right now we're really just trying to get lessons with the investigators that we already have, because that is a struggle right now. Hopefully this week we can figure something out to get into their homes and help them feel the dang spirit, keep praying for them and we'll see what happens.

That's pretty much all that happened this week!
Love you all and hope you make this week a great one!
