Easter

Hello Everyone!

This week was pretty good. We had quite a few lessons this week, one was with someone who is now a new investigator. When we first contacted her over the phone she thought we were trying to hack into her phone, so we had to ease her fears by telling her that we could meet at the church to prove we were who we said we were. It was kind of funny...but we ended up meeting with her and the lesson went fairly well. She got dropped off by members of the church she is attending currently...so that was a little awkward. She had her two year old son with her and he was definitely in the terrible two's stage. Our Ward Mission leader and his wife were there and his wife tried her best to keep him occupied but he definitely has stronger lungs than we do...hahahaha, it was still a good lesson though. We taught her about Our Life on Earth and about the Book of Mormon and we found a question to her soul and left her with a few scriptures that answered her question. We have another appointment with her on Wednesday and we're pretty excited to see what she found!
We had a couple lessons with Herbert and he is on a solid date for April 9th! The only thing that would hold him back is a Word of Wisdom issue, but he's been clean for more than a week now so we know he can make it. His interview is this Thursday and we're pumped! Now, a cool miracle with him. We had an appointment to meet with him on Tuesday but when we got there we found out that he could only meet for about
10 minutes, which was not long enough to teach what we had planned to teach and with his date coming up fast we needed to teach this lesson to make sure he would be living it for two weeks. We found out he could meet that night and texted a member to see if he could come with us and the member called us and told us to come over for dinner and that he would pick up Herbert for it. So we ended up having his lesson in the members home, and got a dinner as well. It was a pretty cool blessing.
We also met with Chad and he told us that he almost stopped meeting with us because he let the devil enter his thoughts and he felt that he couldn't keep doing this. He knows the Book of Mormon and the church are true, he told us and a member he works with. He just needs to make sure he doesn't let the devil get to him. He's awesome though and we can't wait to meet with him this week.
The weather was kind of weird here. It snowed one day and melted off the next. I hope it's the last time...goodbye snow! (Please) Also, happy Easter everyone! I honestly feel blessed that this Easter was different. This time is wasn't about eggs or candy for me, I actually took time to remember my Savior and how glad I am that I did.
Yesterday gave me a good chance to reflect how I am representing Him and there are definitely things I need to work on and as I've taken the time to find out what those are I now know what the next steps are for me. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and had a chance to remember the Savior. Also, General Conference is next weekend and I would love to hear what everyone learned. It is a wonderful opportunity that we all have to receive guidance from a living Prophet. Take this opportunity and learn something new from God's representatives.

I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Happy Spring?

Happy Spring?! It says it's supposed to snow next week so they might say it's spring but I think not. At least it's getting warmer.
Something cool that happened this week was that we went tracting for a bit. To be completely honest I haven't really done any tracting these last few months...which is sort of a good thing but at the same time really isn't. We usually wouldn't do it because we justified doing other things but we decided to just do it yesterday and it was awesome! No one was interested in hearing about the gospel (shame on
them) but everyone was really nice and we even found an inactive member who was really nice and had been active until a few months ago, he really didn't want us to come back and see how he was doing but he talked to us for like 15 minutes on his door step. He was a really nice guy that doesn't know what he needs, but that's alright.

Herbert's doing pretty well, we had an interesting lesson with him where we pretty much just asked questions to find his question of the soul. And we actually found it! It was a pretty cool lesson style that we will probably try more. We aren't sure how Chad is doing though.
The Elders had a lesson with him while we were on exchanges and they said that he told them that he knew the Book of Mormon was true and that the only thing he is worried about is telling his Mom, who is a devout Lutheran. He said he was going to tell her soon and that it didn't matter what she said because he loves what is happening. But we haven't been able to contact him since then and he didn't come to church...so we are hoping that his phone is broken and it's not what we think. Either way, he has his agency so there isn't much else we can do. We're just going to show up to his lesson on Tuesday and hope he's home. I have faith it will all work out though.
That's pretty much everything exciting that happened this week!  Let me know how your Easter goes. Don't forget about Christ and his Atonement this week, that is what we are really celebrating after all.
It's not about the eggs and candy. It's about a loving Savior who suffered and died for our sins, for my sins. Please remember him this week.

Love you all!

Week 33

Hello All!
This week was awesome! We had a good number of lessons and we got a new investigator who isn't necessarily super interested yet, but we'll try to change that. She does have an interesting referral for us...someone who actually referred herself a few months ago but we were unable to contact her, so we might actually be able to contact this referral because we found her friend. The Lord definitely works in mysterious but amazing ways.
We had a lesson with our Elders Quorum President last week and afterwards he gave us some pointers on how to become better teachers and finders. He told us about a period of time towards the end of his mission where he was having 15-30 minute lessons and running from lesson to lesson because they were teaching so much. He told us it all comes down to using questions of the soul, if you can show them the "hole in their heart" as he put it, you can help them see that this gospel can fill it. The way he did it in his mission is by asking people soul searching questions, underlining a verse that answers it, inviting them to read the chapter and find the answer, and then tell them that you'll stop by tomorrow to see what they found. He said that it caused people to see that the Book of Mormon actually answers their questions and that they can find them on their own, verses us telling them the answer. He explained it a lot better than I could but the spirit was so strong when he was telling us this. We already tried using it on Saturday and it worked really well.
We were walking down the street and we saw a lady and a man talking in a garage. We talked to them, listened to what they were saying, or what she was saying (she talks a lot), and the Holy Ghost made it known into us that one of her questions was why God lets bad things happen. We asked her if she had ever wondered that before and she told us she had so we invited her to read the section about agency in the Plan of Salvation pamphlet, she gladly accepted and we stopped by the next day to see what happened. We stopped by and she was happy to see us, but she had just received a call that her Brother is dying in Arizona so she couldn't meet because she was getting ready to fly out there. We then found another question that she wanted answered which was what happens after we die, we shared Alma 40 with her and explained what it would tell her, she again gladly accepted and even bent the page down because she didn't want to forget where it was. As we were leaving she told us that we needed to meet when she got back.
So from a little experience, it seems like this new thing is going to work really well.
These are just some of the blessings that have been seen this week.
The last one I want to share is that after Zone Training Elder Maynard and I completely changed the music we are listening to, we had already cut out a lot of things but now we cut out almost everything we have been listening to. No room for disobedience!
That's pretty much everything exciting that happened this week. I hope everyone has a great week because I know I will. If anyone needs something to read this week, here's a suggestion: Mosiah 26 in the Book of Mormon. It applies really well to what's happening in our day and age.
Love you all!
